When children are removed from their home out of concern for their safety and well being, they are brought to the Children’s Division office to await placement into a foster home. This could be for a few hours or even overnight. These children often have nothing with them, are scared, hungry, and are wearing dirty clothes. Sparrow House provides an alternative where these children can be brought to wait - in a safe home with kind and supportive caregivers who will provide clean clothes, toys, soft blankets, and a good meal. Sparrow House will allow children to receive the comfort and attention they need while Children’s Division staff can do the necessary paperwork and identify a safe and nurturing foster placement. What starts out as a traumatizing day, can now end with them feeling safe and loved.
